All I have heard about is global warming lately. A woman running for SLC mayor said on the radio today that if SLC's mean temperature was raised by only 2 degrees that there would be no skiing in Utah and that we wouldn't even have enough water to shower daily. Instead of snow we would have rain and the mountains would become mudslides every wintertime. To put that stat into perspective, in the past 150 years the average temp around the globe has risen but .7 degrees. I think we are going to be okay. So careful everyone! In approximately 500 years there may be no skiing in Utah! Our license plates will have to read "Greatest mud on earth."
Now, although there are warmer temps in the eastern half of the nation and records being broken, it is still cold. They are talking about record cold coming as soon as this weekend for SLC and I for one wish that it were warmer. I want to be in Cancun living it up. I have been in this area for most of my life and this winter doesn't seem any warmer than any I have experienced thus far, and I don't see them changing anytime soon.
If this is such a big deal how come we don't worry about it until it is politically convenient. If you were to ask any news watching American 2 years ago what their biggest concern was, it would not have been global warming. Guaranteed!
I agree with the idea that everyone should use discretion in all they do and use our natural resources without excess, and I think that is the message that should be preached. Don't let the monster scare you into thinking that you have to make drastic changes to your life our we are all going to be under water, it just isn't in the cards.
