A long time in the Making

Mary has taken over as the blog-a-holic in this relationship and I feel a little better. I know that I still have a problem and it will take time to completely erradicate blogging from my life and I appreciate all the love and support that has been passed along in my behalf. In the meantime as I try to work through this blog addiction that I am continually trying to overcome I have a few items of business to pass along.

1st- The Jazz Preview!

This is a little late since the season has already begun. But, this is an annual event that needs to be addressed. The Jazz are currently 5-1 and had their yearly beat down in NYC by a team that will miss the playoffs by 10 games or so. I don't know what it is about the Jazz and even though I always think that this year may actually be the year, they just can't be a consistent team night in and night out. There are at least 10-15 games a year that the Jazz just plain don't show up and it surely isn't coaching.
Jerry Sloan is getting older and he is getting better with age. In the past he would not even dream of playing a rookie and generally stuck with a 7-8 man rotation. Yet, recently P. Millsap played really well as a rook and from there he has been more inclined to play a different rotation depending on the situation in the game. He is still the same in terms of his absolute devotion to the defensive side of the ball. This is mainly because he knows that his offense is going to score points. The teams offense will always be successful as long as they follow the principles that they learn from Coach Sloan. So for this reason he is constantly harping on the team to play better defense. If the Jazz could play better defense they would win championships. That is a fact. Last year they tried, but because the majority of the team wasn't willing, they became the team that fouled the most in league. I wish that everyone in the Energy Solutions Arena would be given a huge sign that simply says "FEET". Then whenever Memo or Boozer gets burned and hacks the crap out of the guy running past him the entire crowd could just quietly hold up the signs. The season is long and if the Jazz decide that they really want to be champions, they need to look at what the Celtics did last year and replicate it on the defensive side of the ball. Because on offense they could beat anyone in the NBA.
Trumping the above paragraph is a huge gorilla in the middle of the room that the team will not talk about. There are 6 players that are free agents or able to opt out of their contracts at the end of this year. The nucleus of this team seems to genuinelly enjoy each others company and like playing together so we shall see what happens. If Memo, Boozer, Millsap, Brewer, and Korver were all gone after this year then that nucleus would be split and DWill would have to start all over with a new group. Not to mention in four years he would be less likely to re-sign after the debacle that hit with the first group that he liked.
It will be an interesting season to watch and I hope that they play well and listen to Coach Sloan and join Kirilenko and DWill in playing some D-FENCE D-FENCE D-FENCE!!!

2nd- I have another long one that I will add some time soon. I wrote a paper about the diffence between BUS people and AIRPLANE people and I wanted to get the basics here before I forget them forever.
