Back on board

So it has been awhile and for that I apologize. For those of you that are unfamiliar with my wife's blog that is where I posted my summer blockbuster events that are a must see.

There are a few items of business that need to be taken care of here in this forum.

1. Maybe not the most important but number one non the less because of how cool it was at the time. A few weeks ago we were at Albertson's getting our normal Albertson's stuff. You know, warm french bread, and whatever else we needed. But as we were headed to checkout I saw a shining beacon that called out to me. A family sized George Foreman grill for $18.96 on clearance. Holy cow! I thought because not two days earlier while Mary and I were killing time at Target I saw the same grill for $60 bucks and thought that I wanted it then. It was one of those moments that you really felt like you had struck gold and found something special.
2. A few weeks ago I went and hiked the tallest peak in Texas. It is located about 4 hours west of Midland in the Guadalupe National Forrest. It was a good time had by all as we stood on top of Texas. Some of the interesting tidbits from the journey included: the crazy birds, and the dead guy. First, the birds, while ascending near the top there are some wild wind currents and these little birds use the currents and don't really care how close they come to a human head. I guess they figure that they are traveling so fast that if they come in contact with a human head that their life will end and the human head will also be in a large amount of pain. The sound that they made as they zoomed up and down the currents was pretty cool. Second, as we were still climbing the peak a man passed us on the way down the mountain. He said some pleasantry in passing and we thought nothing of it at the time. About three hours later as we were coming down the man was hunched over and his mouth was open like he was sleeping hard. We slowly came up to him and literally had to step over him to continue on the trail. It was a weird place to stop and take a nap, but he did look like a grizzled hiker so we just let him nap. Later I had the thought, what if? So I kind of kept and eye on the news for the next couple of days just to see if there were any reports of a guy dying on a hike to Guadalupe Peak. Luckily, nothing, but it would have been crazy if a report did come across the screen, huh!
This photo is at the top. Left to right: James McAllister, Ryan Nines aka NINES (yelled in an German accent).
3. Being the low man on the totem pole at work is kind of lame. I had to change days off recently because of people retiring. I am now on Monday-Tuesday as my days off, and it isn't really the greatest thing that ever happened. It means that Sunday is usually my last day before the weekend and that I have a morning shift. It is hard to be in two places at once and therefore I would be unable to attend my church meetings and also be at work. So I have been trading my morning shifts to a co-worker and working his evening shifts on Sunday so that I will be able to attend church. So, this basically means that I am working straight evenings all week. It is not the most fun I have ever had, but that comes with the territory being the low man.
4. I am making a May21st resolution to be a better at updating this blog.
